Well I'll start with things I enjoy. I probably spend too much time watching TV and Movies. Thankfully I don't have cable or I might never leave the house, although Netflix streaming is almost just as bad. I love science in general, so my love for science fiction is no surprise. I'll like a good drama or comedy too. Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, X-files, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama are some of my favorites.
I enjoy reading, but don't make enough time for it. My favorite author was Michael Crichton (R.I.P.) as his books were thought provoking (from cloning dinosaurs to nanoscale robot swarms. so awesome!) but not dauntingly large. I love Neal Stephenson's books but find myself bogged down after the first 400 pages. I'm halfway through the Baroque Cycle but have vowed to at least finish that this year because I hear his Anathem is even better.
I live in a house in Saint Paul with my two roommates. We're all nerds in our own way so we have all sorts of interesting (to me, at least) conversations about science, politics, religion or the latest cultural cancer we detest. Through these conversations, some inspirational blogs and some friends at work I've recently lost my faith in god, and don't miss it. I just feel there's better explanations and ideas out there. I'm obviously a proponent of evolution and enjoy reading the latest evidence of theory pertaining to it. My homepage is full of Physorg RSS feeds, the aforementioned blogs and my roommate's weekly comic as a result.
